The 3dRudder made its first appearance at CES 2016, where it was a honoree in the CES Innovation Awards and then it was released in the March of that year for PCVR consumers. Since it’s release the team have added to design to make a more refined version of the product. Now the team behind it are showing off the PlayStation VR version at CES 2019 ahead of a April 2019 release.
The 3dRudder is a locomotion controller that is controlled using your feet. That will allow users to control their movement with their feet and leaving the hands free for the action, like shooting, grabbing, hitting and changing weapons – in turn providing a better experience. The VR Realm have had their hands on the PCVR version for the last ten months, and you can find coverage of the product on the website or our YouTube Channel.
From the use of the PCVR version, I can certainly see the huge benefit the product will have on the PlayStation VR. This is down the very well documented lack of analogue movement when using the PlayStation Move controller. This is really going to boost some of the immersion with the aforementioned freeing up the hands.
The details we know at the moment is that is will cost €119.00 and it’s expected to be shipped in April 2019. People at CES 2019 are getting the chance to have time with the product, and from what I have read so far about the show it’s going down well.
