Arizona Sunshine: Dead Man DLC Review

Despite being released on PCVR over three years Arizona Sunshine has stood the test of time never mind what platform it has been released on. However one thing we have not experienced on any platform is the DLC content that they have release. Well until now, as the Dead Man DLC is now available on the Oculus Quest, we have delved into this DLC, so what did we think of it?

Please note this is going to be mini review and will not be going into as much detail as our other reviews – given it is DLC. However, if you want a more in-depth understanding of what we thought of the Quest version of the game, please feel free to check out our review.

The narrative for the Dead Man DLC is set before the events of the main game, and takes the view of the military on the outbreak. Meaning you are placed into the shoes of a member of the military and the setting of a U.S. Military base. Your aim is to launch a missile that will not only wipe out a large number of the undead but also help stop the spread of the virus.

As you would expect there is one issue in your way in achieving your goal… the undead. You will be fighting through and also taking on waves of zombies as you make your way too and through the military facility. You will be doing this with your trusty pistol, a P90 and an assault riffle and shotgun added in the free 2 handed weapons update in December 2019. With how the DLC plays it does not really do anything new from what you experience in the base game, however, this is not a bad thing – as the saying goes ‘if its not broke, don’t fix it.’

When it comes the level design, they have kept the sort of atmosphere that was created in the original game. Be it out in the more open areas around the military base or in the base its self, the groans of the zombies are still going to keep you on edge – even more so in those areas that are not very well lit.

The one part of that left us feeling a little let down was the length, but more because we wanted to continue playing when those credits rolled. You will find that you can make it though it the Dead Man DLC within thirty-minutes to an hour. But, where this might seem short they are only charging £2.49 for this DLC, making really good value for money.

So, should you buy the Dead Man DLC? As aforementioned despite its age Arizona Sunshine is still holding the mantle for the best VR zombie shooter, and if you have played and loved the main game and you want some more zombie action this in no-brainer – especially given the cost.
