Preview: BLUD
When I was shown the trailer for BLUD before it had been publicly announced, I was left thinking what a crazy looking game but, one that looks like it could be fun to play. I’m not sure what that says about me, No Ragrets Games or both but, the game has been made for fun and not to be serious.

BLUD is a Mixed Reality game, with the aim of the game being taking out these cute plushie style Unicorns by throwing them at your walls, pulling them apart, using melee weapons like chainsaws and guns against them. They will not be attacking you, they are just waiting to be taken out in what ever style you like.
You can carry out this violence against Unicorns in the following games modes:
• Sandbox: Get as messy and kill as many Unicorns as you want in this freestyle mode.
• All you can kill: This will see you trying to kill as many Unicorns as you can. Which can be done with guns/melee only or both.
• Kill em all: This is a time attack mode, which can about be played with guns/melee only or with both.
• Larry’s famous last words: In this final mode your aim will to kill only Larry the Unicorn, this is done by pulling Larry apart, throwing him into walls and shooting him. This has Trickshot mode that gives you sixty-seconds or Trickshot ++ which will allow to do this to the whole song in the game.
You may be thinking, who is Larry? Larry is the emo looking Unicorn that stands out from the rest, not only in look but Larry also talks to you. He is also in the other modes and can be killed in them too. But he really stands out in this own mode, because you will be getting more sarcastic comments from him. The reason his modes are also called Trickshot is because the bullets can be bounced of your walls, this can become tricky as every one of Larry’s deaths more standard Unicorns spawn into your playspace.
As mentioned the game has just been made for a bit of stupid fun, this is portrayed with the Unicorns looking like plushies, although they will leave blood splats around you playspace when shot or they hit the walls themselves and will also be leaving dirty protests around your room as well. Where it has minimal content and you might find yourself just going in for a daft five minutes or putting friends into it, this is reflected in the price of the game.
For me BLUD does exactly what it means to, with players just jumping in for short sessions, just having some mindless fun in Mixed Reality and not taking itself serious at all. One thing I can say with the time I have spent in it, just the general idea of the game and emo Larry has had me laughing at the craziness of it all. I creased over laughing in Sandbox mode at one point when I looked down and my floor was brown with Unicorn poop. If you just want a quick laugh and a stupid fun MR experience to show friends, for $5 BLUD is a fun option.
