These nine tables have been spread across three volumes, with each volume containing three classic Williams tables. They are as follows:
Volume One – The Getaway: High Speed II, Junk Yard and Medieval Madness
Volume Two – Black Rose, Attack From Mars and The Party Zone
Volume Three – Theatre Magic, Safe Cracker and The Champion Pub
I’ve had the opportunity to play all these classic tables, and like any game, I have my favorites among them. However, there are a few that I find less appealing due to their cluttered design. The Party Zone, in particular, was a challenge for me as I often lost sight of the ball on the table. That said, it might just be a reflection of my skill level, and perhaps I need to ‘Get Good,’ as the saying goes. Despite my issues with The Party Zone, if I had to choose my favorite volume, it would be Volume Two. This is largely because Attack From Mars and Black Rose rank among my top three tables, alongside Medieval Madness, out of the nine available.
What I find fascinating about Pinball games is that even though you perform the same actions on each table, the unique designs, layouts, and various scoring and bonus games create a distinctly different experience every time. This holds true for the nine new tables, each offering its own entertaining gameplay that promises hours of enjoyment, whether you prefer quick sessions or longer playtimes. You can easily jump in for a few rounds or immerse yourself completely, draining an entire Quest 3 battery in one go.
In my comprehensive review of Pinball FX VR, I discussed the online debates regarding the pricing of the tables, which will now increase by an extra £23.97 for these three volumes. However, I appreciate that they chose to release them this way instead of bundling all nine tables together. This approach allows players to manage their expenses more easily, and I believe that £7.99 for three tables is a fair price. This is especially true considering the extensive effort involved in meticulously scanning every detail of an original table to ensure that all components are accurately scaled for the game.
Zen Studios has been proactive in enhancing Pinball FX VR by introducing three volumes of classic Williams tables. Each volume is priced at £7.99, allowing you to manage your expenses by purchasing three tables at once. This pricing strategy is quite reasonable considering the effort invested in creating these tables, which are meticulously designed to reflect their real-life versions. While you may have your preferred tables, the variety across all nine will ensure you have plenty of fun, whether you’re playing for a short burst or for as long as your Quest allows. For fans of the game, expanding your table collection is an obvious choice, and the added leaderboards provide an extra incentive for those who enjoy competing for high scores.
