Smash Drums: 1980s Rock Legends – Music Pack Review

Smash Drums has followed up its 1970s Rock Legends music pack by jumping into the next decade with 1980s Rock Legends with the new paid for DLC.

It once again brings five classics from this era, which are;

Bon Jovi – Livin’ On A Prayer
Mötley Crüe – Kickstart My Heart
R.E.M. – It’s The End of the World as We Know It
Scorpions – Rock You Like A Hurricane
ZZ Top – Gimme All Your Lovin’

Following the trend from the last DLC, all of the songs are playable on every solo game mode offered – so, you can play on arcade, classic or in smashed reality (MR mode). All of the songs are covered by every difficulty mode, and some again will be easier than others. With ‘Gimme All Your Lovin’ being more of a slower song and ‘It’s The End of the World as We Know It’ not giving you much of a break.

With the song selection, I think it covers a good variety of rock classics from the era, and personally I was so pleased to see R.E.M included in the track pack. Not only the band but one of my favourite tracks by them, and this song has been getting played a lot.

PotamWorks have again worked their magic with the mapping of these tracks, and kept the feeling of playing the drums never mind what mode you prefer to play, and when hitting combos on these classics it really makes you feel like a rockstar.

THE VERDICT

PotamWorks have taken the step into the next decade with the 1980’s Legends DLC, and if you own Smash Drums this pack is certainly worth extending your library with. With the choice of songs, you will be singing along as you play each track, just like the 1970s pack. With the first two paid for DLC packs being a fantastic selection or rock classics for each decade, I am excited to see what the song library is going to be extended with next.
